Hi!
We're
about to come out of hibernation! Linda's TEFL course comes to its
conclusion at the end of May, and Richard's job looks as if it's
changing (again) which will mean he may get to sleep at home more
than 2 nights a week from about the same time, so we're looking
forward to being around more for TAG.
Whilst
we have still to finalise details of our SW Regional Gathering, we
have settled on the date - once again plumping for Fathers' Day, June
15th, and, if all goes according to plan, it will be an active day
for the young (at heart as well as in years) with areas for those of
us with a bit less energy to burn off to sit and chat in lovely
surroundings in mid-Devon. Details will be sent out to the region in mid-May.
Last
evening (13th April) we had a nice surprise! We have a friend who is
a basketball referee and Commissioner of the league matches in the
SW, and we often go to Plymouth with his family to watch Plymouth
Raiders - it's a really great family night out, and one we are
thinking of incorporating into next season's TAG SW calendar! When we
first started going, we met up with Tony Trenerry and his family, one
of our Plymouth members- his son is Foxy, the Raiders' madcap mascot!
Well, yesterday, we went down early as Adèle wanted to go
ice-skating, and so we went in to watch the Wheelchair Basketball
match that preceded the Raiders' game. We have spent two seasons
trying to catch Hugh Anderson in a game, but have never managed to,
but then, yesterday evening, at last, we did! It was lovely to see
such a talented young man from the group in action, and Jonathon and
Linda were really pleased to snatch a word or two with him afterwards
before the team dashed off for a night in the drinking dens of Exeter
in training for their Sunday game! We hope things go well for
Sheffield, Hugh!
As
far as the Ettey household is concerned, you may remember that
Jonathon had just broken his wrist as we wrote for the last issue -
that is now healed and he's back on track, playing cricket - school
cricket starts after Easter, too. Adèle is looking forward to
moving up to the local comp in September, Linda is looking forward to
sleeping for a week after the end of the course, followed by, who
knows? something more lucrative in the job line, and Richard is
looking forward to spending less time on the road, and more time to
mow the lawn, cycle the Somerset Levels and generally relaxing (don't
tell his boss!).
Hoping
to see you in June or at the conference in September.
